I Do, I Do

Rating: ****

Genre: Comedy, Romance
Episodes: 16
Cast: Kim Sun Ah, Park Gun Hyung, Im Soo Hyang, Lee Jang Woo

SYNOPSIS:
"Hwang Ji An is the top shoe designer in a major shoe company. She is in her 30s, successful and single. One night, she makes a horrible mistake and sleeps with Park Tae Gang, a good-looking new employee in her company, and she finds out she is pregnant. Ji An’s hard-earned career and her stylish lifestyle threatens to implode as a result of her one-night-stand mistake. Will Ji An be forced to give up everything and live with the consequences of her mistake?"

REVIEW:
Although it might just be my bias of Lee Jang Woo talking, which screams of how cute he acts, I really did enjoy this drama.  Sure, there were some things that didn't quite work, but (in the end) I think it was a good drama.  I think the worst thing about this drama, though, is the name.  It is the most annoying title to have to put into a search engine.  All you get are wedding stuff.  I guess the title in Hangul is better in that you can find information on the drama, but in English it's a bit tough.  I do have to wonder if it was in anyway inspired by the 1966 Broadway musical "I Do! I Do!" which was about a married couple.  However, us viewers will probably never know.

Most poster pictures down :(

So, if you haven't noticed, I've been using Mysoju's poster pictures instead of downloading the posters onto my computer and uploading them onto blogger.  I now understand why that was a bad idea.  All the pictures are now gone, as poor Mysoju has gone down.  It may take some time, but I'll be slowly fixing the pictures.

Queen In Hyun's Man

Rating: ****.5

Genre: Romance
Episodes: 16
Cast: Ji Hyun Woo, Jo Dal Hwan, Yoo In Na, Kim Jin Woo (1983), Ga Deuk Hi

SYNOPSIS:
"Park Boong Do is a scholar who had supported the reinstatement of Queen In Hyun when Jang heebin's schemes resulted in her being deposed and replaced as King Sukjong's queen consort. He travels 300 years into the future of modern Seoul and meets Choi Hee Jin, a no-name actress who is expecting a career renaissance through her role as Queen In Hyun in a TV drama. "

REVIEW:
Although it isn't my normal drama, since I rarely enjoy straight romance dramas, I decided to give it a whirl after my friends raved about it.  Although hesitant, I found that, in the end, I thoroughly enjoyed this drama.  Although the idea of time travel is anything but new, this seems to give a new spin on that idea as the main character seems to be able to travel back and forth whenever he pleases.  Although there are things that I didn't like, I would definitely recommend this drama.

Fondant Garden

Rating: *****

Genre: Taiwanese Drama, Romance
Episodes: 16
Cast: Jian Man Shu, Kingone Wang, Johnny Lu, Park Jung Min

SYNOPSIS:
"Zheng Mi En (Jian Man Shu) is a talented pastry chef who works and manages at a successful bakery called Fondant Garden. Her boss and close friend from college, Chen Ai Lin (Lia Lee) always asks Mi En to bake cakes for her and pass them off as her own creations, convincing her prideful father that she is the one baking the amazing cakes. Ai Lin's father sends Ai Lin off to a fondant cake-making competition in Korea, causing Ai Lin to drag Mi En into her mesh of lies once again.
In the midst of this, Po Xi Huan/Park Hee Hwan (Park Jung Min) is a second-generation Taiwanese-Korean businessman from a Korean company who does not wish to inherit his family business. His father plans to use the upcoming cake competition as a way to force Xi Huan into an arranged marriage with the winner, who apparently has been chosen ahead of time. Xi Huan's Taiwanese half-brother, Yan Han Xiang (Kingone Wang) runs the family business division in Taiwan, but wants to be the successor of Xi Huan's father's company. Because of this, Han Xiang is a little annoyed that his younger half-brother is uninterested in taking over the business, and yet might inherit it instead of him."

REVIEW:
It's so rare that I give five stars to a Taiwan drama, but I really have to say that I absolutely loved it.  Lighthearted and sweet, this drama made me smile everyday.  Although I'm sick of amnesia themes, I will forgive the stereotype and give it the best rating I can.  I think my favorite part of the whole show, though, is the beginning.  Although obviously fake, it really set the tone for the whole drama.  I still have the song in my head to this day.  All in all, this is a drama you will definitely enjoy.

Fashion King

Rating: **.5

Genre: Romance
Episodes: 20
Cast: Yoo Ah In, Shin Se Kyung, Lee Je Hoon, Kwon Yu Ri, Jang Mi Hee

SYNOPSIS:
"Fashion King tells the story of young aspiring designers in Dongdaemun Market as they dream of success, and the relationships, love, and challenges they face along the way. Kang Young Gul has never had any goals or dreams for a bright future until he meets Lee Ga Young. Together they work towards their dreams. "

REVIEW:
I rarely ever do a rating lower than 3 stars, but I think that this drama really doesn't deserve it.  Although the execution of the drama was good (which landed it 2.5 stars), the actual storyline was just annoying.  Truthfully, if it wasn't for the fact that I need content to review, I probably wouldn't have even finished this drama.  Although the show certainly ended with a bang, it didn't make up for the fact that it was a complete waste of my time.  Don't waste your time on this unless you feel like making fun of a drama.
